Zamfara PDP Chairman Jamil Magayaki Defects to APC

On Thursday, Dr. Jamil Jibo Magayaki, the Zamfara State chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), announced his resignation from the party and subsequent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This decision was influenced by recent political developments in Zamfara State, including the earlier defection of the state governor, Dauda Lawal, to the APC. Magayaki explained that his move was driven by the current political realities in the state and the necessity to align with a party that he believes is better positioned to tackle the pressing issues affecting residents.

He emphasized that the decision to join the APC was based on the prevailing political situation in Zamfara, which requires a party capable of addressing security and developmental challenges. Magayaki's defection is part of a series of political shifts in the state as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin, following several other defections from the PDP, including members of the state House of Assembly.
