Zamfara PDP Chairman Jamil Magayaki Joins APC

Jamil Magayaki, the chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State, announced his resignation from the party and his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday. This move reflects the current political realities in Zamfara State and aims to align with a platform better suited to address the state's security and development challenges.

Magayaki's defection follows a trend of political realignment in the state as the 2027 general elections approach. Earlier, on March 6, 2026, Governor Dauda Lawal also announced his departure from the PDP to join the APC, citing internal crises within the PDP and the need for stronger political cooperation to tackle pressing issues in Zamfara.

The PDP has faced significant defections recently, including lawmakers and thousands of party members moving to the APC, indicating a growing political shift within the state's landscape.
