21 Dead in Uganda School Bus Crash During Return Trip

On a return trip from school, a bus carrying students from King David Junior School in Kampala, Uganda, veered off the road in the Sipi area of Kapchorwa District, leading to a catastrophic accident that claimed the lives of 21 individuals. Preliminary investigations by police indicate that the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a large stone along the roadside before overturning.

The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 20 pupils and one adult male, while several others, including juveniles, sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment. This accident is part of a concerning trend in Uganda, where road safety records are notoriously poor, with frequent accidents reported.

In October, another bus collision on a major highway resulted in at least 46 fatalities. In 2024, there were 4,434 fatal collisions, leading to 5,144 deaths in the country.
