APC First-Term Governors Meet in Kebbi to Address Security

On Tuesday, a significant closed-door meeting was convened in Kebbi State, hosted by Governor Nasir Idris, involving 21 first-term governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This gathering was prompted by growing concerns over worsening security situations and economic challenges faced by various states.

The governors, representing six geopolitical zones, discussed strategies to address persistent attacks by bandits and terrorists, which have led to displacement and loss of lives in states such as Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi. The meeting also aimed to enhance collaboration with federal security agencies and explore measures to improve intelligence gathering and rapid response to security threats.

Additionally, the governors were expected to share best practices for service delivery amidst rising infrastructure costs and wage pressures. The discussions were believed to touch on the upcoming 2027 general elections, with an emphasis on the role of first-term governors in shaping the APC's electoral strategy and candidate selection process.
