Nigerian Troops Eliminate 22 ISWAP Fighters in Borno's Timbuktu Triangle

Nigerian security sources have confirmed that Nigerian troops successfully neutralized at least 22 fighters belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during intense clashes in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State. The operation, led by the Nigerian Army's special forces, targeted the notorious Axi stronghold, a long-standing ISWAP base.

The militants, including senior commanders like Qaid and two unit leaders known as Munzir, suffered heavy casualties and injuries. Some wounded terrorists managed to flee the battlefield, believed to have regrouped in the forest areas around Bulabulin, located approximately 18-20 kilometers west of Damboa and Korengelen.

The military has intensified intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance operations to track and intercept the fleeing fighters. Troops are determined to further degrade ISWAP's operational capacity in the North East region and restore peace to communities affected by insurgency.
