22 Kano Lawmakers Defect to APC After Abba Yusuf's NNPP Exit

In a significant political development, 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly defected from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after Abba Yusuf's exit from NNPP. This mass defection occurred during a plenary session on Monday, shortly after Governor Abba Yusuf formally resigned from NNPP following a visit to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

The lawmakers who defected included key figures like Speaker Jibril Falgor Rogo, Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello Butu Butu, and other prominent leaders. The defection was publicly announced by Speaker Falgor, with each member declaring their move to APC.

Governor Yusuf's defection was criticized by NNPP's national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who described it as a betrayal. This development is expected to have significant implications for the political landscape in Kano State ahead of the 2023 elections.
