Gombe Man Sentenced to Death for Ex-Wife's Murder

On Wednesday, a Gombe High Court sentenced 25-year-old Hassan Moham to death by hanging for the murder of his ex-wife, Halimatu Sadiya Adamu. The judgment was delivered by Justice Abdulhamid Moham Yakubu at High Court No. 2.

The prosecution, led by Abubakar Kungudo, stated that the incident occurred on March 25, 2025, at 1 p.m., when Hassan allegedly attacked Halimatu with a knife after she declined his request to remarry. Six witnesses testified during the trial, providing accounts of the incident.

The court found that the evidence presented, including a confession statement from the defendant, established his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Despite Hassan's denial of the charges during his testimony, the judge ruled that the prosecution had proven its case of culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law.

Consequently, Hassan was convicted and sentenced to death, as per the provisions of the law.
