263 Stranded Nigerians Return Home from Niger Republic

On Thursday, 263 stranded Nigerians returned to Nigeria from Agadez, Niger Republic, through two flights operated by Sky Mali. The first flight, carrying 116 passengers, landed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport around 12:50 PM, while the second flight, with 147 passengers, arrived at 4:35 PM.

The repatriation was conducted under the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI). Upon arrival, the returnees were processed by the Nigerian Immigration Service and received support from various agencies, including NAPTIP, DSS, and NEMA.

Mr. Lubah Liman, the Kano State Coordinator of NCFRMI, confirmed the operation and emphasized the federal government's commitment to protecting migrants and aiding their reintegration.

Returnees will receive multipurpose cash assistance and transport support to help them reintegrate into their communities and establish small businesses.
