Garo Nominated as Kano Deputy Governor with APC Support

Alhaji Murtala Sulen Garo has been nominated as the Deputy Governor of Kano State, with Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the chairman of the House of Representatives' downstream petroleum committee, announcing that 27 out of 31 APC stakeholders support this nomination. Garo's appointment follows the resignation of Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

Doguwa commended Governor Abba Yusuf for his leadership and willingness to work collaboratively within the party. Garo was previously the deputy gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections and is recognized for his popular support across the party ranks and influence in all 44 local government areas of the state.

The nomination reflects a strategic decision to unify the party, with Doguwa urging the governor to respect the collective decision of the party members. The meeting that led to this decision included significant legacy party members, and Garo's nomination is seen as a move towards strengthening the APC's position ahead of the 2027 elections.
