29 Suspects Remanded After Ogun State Police Operation

On April 15, 2026, a magistrate court in Sagamu, Ogun State, remanded 29 individuals in custody following a police operation dubbed "Operation Keep Sagamu Safe." This operation resulted in the arrest of 146 suspects, of which 29 were found culpable after thorough screening. The suspects were arraigned on five counts, including malicious damage, theft, and assault, which are punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2006.

Magistrate O.S. Somefun granted bail to the suspects at 1,000,000 Naira but ordered their remand pending the fulfillment of bail conditions.

The Ogun State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrests and emphasized their commitment to due process and public safety. The case has been adjourned until May 12, 2026, and the police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
