Wike Announces Three New Magistrate Courts in FCT by June

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), disclosed plans to construct three magistrate courts in the FCT, with completion expected by June 2024. Wike provided this assurance during an inspection of the project sites located in Asokoro, Jabi, and Garki districts of Abuja on Friday.

The initiative is part of a presidential intervention aimed at ensuring the judiciary does not lack necessary space for the effective dispensation of justice. Wike acknowledged the technical difficulties posed by the terrain but expressed optimism that these challenges would be surmounted.

He noted that the foundation for the Jabi and Garki sites was laid in late 2025. Wike praised the rapid pace of the projects and the quality of work being done, emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring prompt administration of justice.

He remarked that there is no particular reason to pay less attention to the judiciary while other sectors receive focus, highlighting the judiciary's role in the broader development of the FCT, which includes road projects, school renovations, and health sector improvements.
