Wike Approves 1,659 New Appointments in FCTA

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ratified the appointment of 1,659 staff members within the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). This decision was announced in a statement by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the FCT Minister.

The appointments are part of a larger examination process conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026, where 2,512 candidates were invited to participate, but only 2,281 showed up for the examination, resulting in 224 officials being absent. The examination aimed to confirm employment for candidates who had been waiting since 2016 and 2019.

Wike assumed office in August 2023 and has since gathered the FCT Civil Service Commission to plan for promotions in 2025 and 2026, aligning with President Bola Tinubu's commitment to boost the morale of the FCTA workforce.
