Wike Announces Construction of Three Magistrate Courts

On Friday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), assured that three magistrate courts are under construction in the FCT, with completion expected by June 2025. This initiative aims to deepen justice dispensation in Nigeria and ensure that the judiciary does not lack necessary space for effective justice delivery.

Wike inspected the project sites located in Asokoro, Jabi, and Garki districts of Abuja, noting the technical difficulties posed by the terrain but expressing optimism that these challenges can be overcome. He praised the rapid pace of the project, which is being executed under the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

Wike emphasized the importance of providing adequate courtroom accommodations to improve the welfare and efficiency of the judiciary, which is the third arm of government. He criticized the neglect of the justice sector and highlighted previous efforts, including the construction of 40 housing units for judges of the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal.
