Lagos State Signs PPA to Enhance Power Supply Capacity

On a recent date, three energy companies, including Mainland Power Limited and Akut Independent Power Plant, signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Lagos State to improve the state's power supply. The signing ceremony took place at Lagos House Marina and was attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Abiodun Ogunleye.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the partners to adhere to the agreement, highlighting the commitment to uphold professional standards and ensure project viability. The agreement is expected to increase power generation capacity from the current 60 megawatts to between 200 and 400 megawatts within two to three years, without straining the state's treasury.

Ogunleye described the agreement as a significant step towards revitalizing dormant assets and providing renewable power supply to residents of Lagos.
