Bandits Kill One, Abduct Five in Sokoto Community Attack

In a recent attack on a community in Sokoto, Nigeria, bandits killed one individual and abducted five others, comprising three women and two men. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, as confirmed by DSP Ahmad Rufa, spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command.

Rufa also refuted circulating reports that the attackers disguised themselves in women's hijabs, stating that this was not true. The assailants, numbering in large groups, arrived on approximately 30 motorcycles and were armed.

They initiated a sporadic shooting upon invading the village. Security sources indicated that the attack was an attempt to ambush, but the police were unable to engage effectively due to being outnumbered.

Reinforcements were notified, but the nearest security outpost was a 20-minute drive from the attack location. This incident follows a similar attack in a nearby village a few days prior, where security personnel successfully repelled the assailants, resulting in one death and the recovery of weapons.
