Bandit Attack in Zamfara Leaves Three Dead, Houses Burned

In a recent attack in Zamfara, three people were killed, and multiple houses were set ablaze by armed bandits. The assault occurred around midnight, with the attackers abducting an unspecified number of individuals, primarily women, prompting residents to flee Nahuch town for safety.

The Zamfara State Police Command, represented by DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident, stating that the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, invaded the village, firing sporadically and burning houses and silos. A joint team of police and vigilante members engaged the attackers in a gun duel, forcing them to retreat into the bush.

Among the casualties, five individuals sustained gunshot wounds, while four suffered burn injuries and are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau. The Federal Government has pledged to tackle the worsening insecurity in Zamfara, with Governor Dauda Lawal emphasizing the need for support to address the ongoing banditry plaguing the northern state.
