Police Arrest Eight Suspected Cultists in Kwara State

In a significant crackdown on cultism in Kwara State, the Kwara State Police Command arrested three women and five men in Ilorin. The operation was initiated following a deadly shooting incident on Sunday night near the Post Office area, where gunmen attacked a bar, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries.

The police confirmed the deaths and linked the attack to a rivalry among cult groups in the area. The arrested individuals include Ismail Sodiq (35), Ibrahim Sahe (26), Azeez Olarenwaju (27), Soliu Ibrahim (22), Abdulbasit Abdulkadir (24), and three women: Feyikemi Odoj (28), Ishola Faisat (23), and Abubakar Zainab (22).

During the operation, the police recovered two locally made pistols, a pump-action shotgun, two cut-size shotguns, and 25 cartridges. The police emphasized their commitment to dismantling cult networks and reducing violent crime in the state, attributing the success of the operation to credible intelligence and strategic policing.
