Police Arrest Four Suspected Cultists in Kwara State

On June 11, 2026, the Kwara State Police Command arrested four suspected cultists, including Idowu Akored, who is alleged to be the leader of the outlaw Eiye confraternity. The arrests occurred during a targeted operation by the Violent Crime Response Unit in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area, following credible intelligence regarding the suspects' involvement in violent criminal activities.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are linked to a criminal gang involved in cult-related robberies and violent crimes, which have instilled fear within the community. Upon the police's arrival, the suspects reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to attack officers with broken bottles but were subdued without injury.

The suspects have been transferred to Ilorin for further investigation, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional members of the criminal network. Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, the police spokesperson, commended the operation's success, while Ojo Adekimi praised the officers' courage and professionalism.
