Three Terrorists Sentenced to Life for Kidnapping in Oyo

On Thursday, the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced three terrorists to life imprisonment for their involvement in the abduction of school children and teachers in Oyo State. The convicted individuals, Abdulrazak Umar (alias Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (alias Yunusa Bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (alias Abu Itisar), are members of the proscribed Darul Salam terrorist group, affiliated with Jamadadtu Asarul Muslima Fi Bilandis Sudan (Ansaru).

Justice Salim Ibrahim presided over the case, where the trio pleaded guilty to counts 4 and 6 of the charges, leading to the maximum sentence. They confessed to having knowledge of the kidnapping and concealed information about it.

Additionally, Abdulrazak Umar admitted guilt to counts 7, 8, 9, and 10, which included training terrorists and inciting radical ideology through a WhatsApp group. The court proceedings included testimonies from a Department of State Services operative, and the investigation reports were submitted as evidence.
