Court Sentences Three to Life for Oriire Kidnapping Role

The Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced three men to life imprisonment for concealing information regarding the masterminds of the Oriire school kidnapping in Oyo State. The convicts, who pleaded guilty to the charges filed by the Federal Government, admitted to withholding information that could have aided security agencies in identifying the attackers.

Justice Salem Ibrahim delivered the judgment, labeling their actions as grave crimes against national security. The defendants also acknowledged their membership in Darul Salam, a group linked to the outlawed terrorist organization Ansaru.

Additionally, two of the convicts, Abdulrazak Umar and Shamsudin Adamu, faced extra charges for providing training to a WhatsApp group promoting extremist ideology. Their guilty pleas led to convictions on multiple counts, emphasizing the serious nature of their offenses and the ongoing threat posed by extremist groups in Nigeria.
