Abuja Police Seize 30 Vehicles in Tinted Glass Ban

The FCT Police Command conducted an operation in Abuja, seizing 30 vehicles to enforce a ban on tinted glasses. This operation, authorized by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu, aims to address the use of tinted vehicles by criminals to conceal their identities and evade law enforcement.

Police Commissioner Ahm Sanusi stated that the initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance public safety and prevent violent crimes, including kidnappings and robberies. The operation follows intelligence reports indicating that criminal elements frequently use tinted vehicles for illicit activities.

Vehicle owners whose vehicles were seized will face prosecution under the FCT Road Transport Regulation Act 2023. The enforcement comes amid uncertainties regarding the nationwide enforcement of tinted glass permits, which is set to resume on January 2, 2026, following an interim court order that previously suspended its implementation.
