FCT Police Seize Over 30 Tinted Vehicles in Abuja

The FCT Police Command has initiated a crackdown on tinted vehicles in Abuja, seizing over 30 vehicles that were found to have obscured number plates and improper registration. This enforcement action, led by Commissioner Ahm Sanusi, aims to address rising vehicle-related crimes such as robbery and kidnapping.

The Inspector General of Police, Olutunji Disu, authorized this operation based on intelligence reports suggesting that criminals use tinted vehicles to conceal their identities and evade law enforcement. The police have warned vehicle owners that those found operating tinted vehicles will face prosecution under the Federal FCT Road Transport Regulation Act 2023.

Sanusi emphasized that the operation is not intended to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to enhance public safety. The enforcement comes amid uncertainty regarding the nationwide enforcement of tinted glass regulations, which is currently suspended due to an interim court order.

The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities to assist in their efforts.
