Nigeria Police Enforces Tinted Glass Permit Regulations

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a renewed enforcement of tinted glass permit regulations, emphasizing that motorists must obtain official permits to legally use tinted windows on their vehicles. CSP Anieti Ukukun from the NPF's public relations office clarified that the law prohibits the use of tinted glass without a valid permit, which is primarily issued to individuals who undergo an assessment process.

The enforcement aims to improve public safety and national security, as tinted windows can hinder security personnel's ability to see inside vehicles during stop-and-search operations. Motorists with factory-fitted tinted windows are also required to secure a valid police permit.

The NPF has warned that violations will lead to prosecution in federal high courts, and officers are prohibited from demanding bribes or extorting motorists. The public is encouraged to report any misconduct by police officers to the Inspector General of Police through designated complaint channels.
