Rivers State Spent ₦302 Billion Under Sole Administrator

The Rivers State government revealed that ₦302 billion was spent during Ibok Ete Ibas' tenure as Sole Administrator, as disclosed in a counter affidavit submitted to the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt. This disclosure was part of the government's response to a lawsuit filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) under the Freedom of Information Act.

The affidavit, dated March 10, 2026, indicated that the state received ₦253.48 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee between March and August 2025. The breakdown of expenditures included ₦112.41 billion for salaries and pensions, ₦163.44 billion allocated to ministries, and ₦106 billion reportedly disbursed in August 2025.

Additionally, ₦26.01 billion was spent on a U.S. service loan, and ₦491.59 million on bank charges. The case is scheduled for further hearing on March 18, 2025, with a previous adjournment set for May 19, 2026.
