33 Terrorism Suspects Arrested After Church Attack in Kwara

On Monday, November 20, 2025, the Nigeria Police Force announced the arrest of 33 suspects connected to a terrorist attack on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State. The attack, which occurred during a service, resulted in the deaths of at least three worshippers and the kidnapping of 38 individuals, including the pastor.

Following the incident, a coordinated operation by the police's Intelligence Response Team (IRT) across Kwara and Kogi states led to the apprehension of the suspects. Police spokesman Anthony Placid disclosed that the investigation revealed the suspects were involved in a criminal conspiracy encompassing armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, culpable homicide, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The operation recovered various weapons, including seven AK-47 rifles, an anti-aircraft launcher, and 32 rounds of live ammunition. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to apprehend additional gang members.
