Bandits Attack Kwara Church, Abduct Worshippers During Service

On a Sunday morning during a weekly church service, bandits invaded the ECWA Church in Omugo, located in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting at least seven worshippers. Sources indicated that the attack caused panic among the congregation.

The Kwara South Joint Security Watch intervened, leading to the successful rescue of three victims, as confirmed by Bolanle Olukoju, the State Commissioner for Community Development. She commended the immediate response of security forces and local vigilantes, who helped repel the attack.

Olukoju condemned the targeting of religious centers, describing the act as cowardly and unacceptable. The Kwara State government also condemned the attack, urging residents to support ongoing security efforts and remain vigilant.

Security concerns have heightened in the state following intelligence reports of planned coordinated attacks across the Kwara South region, prompting increased military and paramilitary presence in anticipation of further threats.
