35 Killed in Lakurawa Terrorist Attack on Kebbi Communities

On Wednesday, a coordinated attack by Lakurawa terrorists resulted in the deaths of at least 35 individuals across eight communities in Kebbi, including Masama, Mamunu, Kamzo, Awashaka, Tungar Batur, Dan Mai Rago, Tungar Tsoho, and Gorin Dena. Local resident Aminu Garba reported that gunmen stormed the villages, causing panic as people fled for shelter upon hearing gunshots.

Despite the deployment of security personnel in the area, residents have not returned due to lingering fears of further attacks. Umar Mai Gaskiya, a farmer, narrowly escaped the assault, which he described as indiscriminate shooting during the morning invasion.

The attack appears to demonstrate the continued presence and capability of the Lakurawa group, raising concerns about security operations in the region. Police spokesperson Bashir Usman confirmed the fatalities and noted that local vigilante groups were mobilized to resist the attacks and restore calm.
