Terrorists Kill 34 Muslims in Kebbi State Attack

On Tuesday, a coordinated attack by gunmen in Kebbi State, Nigeria, resulted in the deaths of at least 34 fasting Muslims. The assailants overwhelmed local defense forces, launching simultaneous assaults on several remote villages in the border district.

Survivors described the attack as highly organized, with gunmen setting fire to homes and residents fleeing in terror. The attack has been attributed to a new insurgent group known as Lakurawa, which has been active in the area and is believed to have ties to jihadist factions in Mali and Niger.

The Kebbi State police spokesman, Bashir Usman, confirmed the death toll and noted that the attackers also engaged in cattle raiding. The incident has drawn significant outrage on social media, with calls for the Nigerian government to take decisive action against the rising violence.

The Lakurawa group was declared a terrorist organization last year, and the Nigerian military has previously targeted its members in airstrikes.
