Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Five Worshippers in Kebbi Mosque

On Wednesday night, suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group attacked a mosque in Kebbi, resulting in the deaths of five Muslim worshippers and injuries to three others. The attack occurred during evening prayers in the Dadinkowa community of Maiyama Local Government Area.

Shuaibu Zubair, a suspect linked to the Lakurawa group, was mentioned in connection with the incident. Kebbi State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the attack, stating that the terrorists targeted the mosque in retaliation for a previous military defeat.

The victims sustained gunshot wounds, and the injured were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment. This incident follows a military operation on February 24, 2026, when Major General Bemgha Koughna, the General Officer Commanding the 8 Division Command Sector 2, conducted a routine check on soldiers at the frontline, which led to the neutralization of five suspected Lakurawa terrorists.
