14 Escape Death in Okun Ajah Road Traffic Accident

On Wednesday, a four-year-old boy and his mother were among 14 occupants who narrowly escaped death in a severe road traffic accident along Coaster Road opposite Lafiaji, inward Okun Ajah, Lagos State. The accident involved a fully loaded Mazda commercial bus with registration number AKD 509 XL, which reportedly lost stability and overturned violently.

Taofiq Adebayo, the Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), confirmed the incident, noting that the vehicle somersaulted and landed on its side, trapping passengers within the mangled wreckage. Emergency response personnel arrived promptly to extricate the injured victims from the twisted vehicle.

The mother and child were among two casualties rushed to Abraham Adesanya Hospital along Ogombo Road for urgent medical attention, while other injured passengers were taken to nearby healthcare facilities with assistance from good Samaritans. The precise cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and the matter has been transferred to the police division at Abraham Adesanya for further investigation.
