Bayelsa State Dominates 4th Governor Diri Wrestling Classic

The 4th Governor Diri Wrestling Classic took place on Saturday, March 28, featuring a series of Greco-Roman wrestling competitions. Notably, Alfr Nscdc successfully defended his title in the 67kg division, winning gold in a round-robin format.

Augustin Okuro also retained his title in the super heavyweight 130kg category, demonstrating superior technique. Bayelsa State excelled, finishing at the top of the Greco-Roman medal table with an impressive haul of eight medals: four gold, one silver, and three bronze.

Key performances included Harrison Onovwiomogbohwo clinching the first Greco-Roman gold medal in the 97kg category. Other notable medalists included Matthew Godstim and Ok Ituru, who secured gold in their respective weight classes.

Delta State followed with three medals, comprising two gold and one bronze. The event highlighted the growing talent in Nigerian wrestling and the competitive spirit among the states.
