Five Farmers Die in Niger Boat Capsize Incident

On Saturday afternoon, five farmers tragically lost their lives in a boat accident at Shaba-Woshi-Kpaya village in Edotsu Ward, Niger State. The victims, identified as Yahaya Abubakar, Usman Abubakar, Lami Hussaini, Baba Ahmadu, and Salihu Aliyu, were en route to their farms when their boat capsized.

Muhammadu Dan-Asabe, a local resident, reported the incident to Daily Trust. Dr Ibrahim Audu Hussaini, the Director of Information and Special Duties at the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), confirmed the details of the accident.

He stated that the remains of the five victims were recovered and buried on the same day. Boat mishaps are common in riverine communities, especially during farming seasons, as residents rely on waterways for access to their agricultural lands.
