Nigerian Army Repels ISWAP Attack in Yobe, 50 Insurgents Killed

On Thursday, during an early morning attack at approximately 2 AM, members of the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) targeted the headquarters of the 27 Brigade in Buni Gari, Yobe State. The Nigerian Army, under the command of Lt.

Col. Sani Uba, coordinated a robust defense involving ground and air operations, successfully repelling the assault.

The military reported that no fewer than 50 terrorists were neutralized during the encounter, and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. Unfortunately, two soldiers lost their lives in the engagement.

The attack was characterized by multiple direct assaults from ISWAP members, who attempted to encircle the troops. However, the Nigerian Army's tactical response inflicted catastrophic losses on the insurgents.

Following the operation, the military disclosed that air support provided intelligence and reconnaissance, leading to precise air strikes against fleeing insurgents, resulting in an additional 20 terrorists being neutralized.
