Troops Repel ISWAP Attack in Yobe State Successfully

On April 26, 2023, Nigerian troops from the 233 Battalion stationed at Tango 4 successfully repelled an attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists near Kukareta in the Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State. The incident occurred in the early hours when the insurgents, reportedly mounted on six gun trucks and several motorcycles, attempted to advance towards troop positions located approximately 30 kilometers from Zagagola Makama.

The troops responded promptly with a combination of direct and indirect firepower, which effectively overpowered the insurgents. Following the encounter, the troops conducted an exploitation operation in the surrounding area but did not recover any significant items.
