5.2-Magnitude Earthquake in Guangxi, China Kills Couple

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit Liuzhou, Guangxi region, China, on Monday at 12:21 GMT, leading to the deaths of a 63-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, as reported by state media. The quake caused the collapse of 13 buildings, and one person remains missing.

Search and rescue operations are currently underway, with authorities evacuating approximately 7,000 residents from the affected area. Video footage from CCTV showed individuals fleeing high-rise buildings and debris scattered across the streets.

Rescue workers, equipped with helmets and dogs, are working to locate survivors amidst the rubble. Earthquakes are common in China; a devastating quake in January in a remote region of Tibet resulted in at least 126 fatalities and significant damage to thousands of buildings.
