FCSC Launches 2026 Promotion Exams for 5,900 Officers

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) commenced the 2026 Directorate Cadre Promotion Examination on September 21, targeting about 5,900 officers on Salary Grade Levels 14–17. FCSC Chairman, Prof Tunji Olaopa, confirmed the integration of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) into the examination process, emphasizing its efficiency compared to manual methods.

As of the examination's start, 5,792 candidates had participated across seven centers in the Federal Capital Territory and six geopolitical zones, with the exercise scheduled to conclude on September 23. Olaopa inspected various CBT centers in Abuja and noted that the decentralization aimed to ease participation and reduce logistical challenges.

He reported a 97% on-time attendance rate among candidates, while addressing issues such as internet connectivity and low computer literacy that need improvement. Additionally, arrangements were made with JAMB to support candidates with disabilities.

Olaopa encouraged civil servants to enhance their digital skills as government operations increasingly rely on technology.
