Six Arrested for Murder of Ebonyi Traditional Ruler

Six suspects have been arrested in relation to the murder of traditional ruler HRH Ez Josephat Nnanna Ikegwu from Ishinkwo Community, which occurred on April 2, 2026. The arrests were made by the Ebonyi State Police Command following sustained intelligence-led investigations.

The suspects identified are Ucha Johnson, Ogobuchi Igw, Nkpuma Nwankwo, Edwin Onwoshi, Itumo Joseph, and Emmanuel Nwaoba. During the operation, the police recovered an AK-47 rifle along with eight rounds of live ammunition.

The Commissioner of Police for Ebonyi State, CP Hope Urunwa Okafor, reaffirmed the command's commitment to justice and warned that perpetrators of violent crimes would not escape prosecution. He emphasized that no individual involved in criminal activities would be allowed to evade justice as the command remains resolute in its efforts to eliminate violent crime in the state.
