Police Arrest 13 for Mob Attack on Woman in Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command announced the arrest of 13 suspects, comprising 10 males and 3 females, related to a mob attack on a woman who was falsely accused of abducting three children. SP Joshua Ukandu, the police spokesperson, disclosed that the suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman was attacked by a mob due to unfounded claims circulating about her involvement in the abduction. The police condemned the act of jungle justice and warned the public against taking the law into their own hands or spreading unverifiable information that could incite violence.

Ukandu emphasized that anyone engaging in mob actions based on false allegations would face prosecution under the law. The police urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies for proper investigation instead of resorting to self-help.
