Nigerian Army Arrests Five Over Police Officer Killing

On April 21, 2026, the Nigerian Army's Sector 2 troops conducted a successful raid in Nwofe, Izzi Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, resulting in the arrest of five suspects connected to the killing of a police officer in Delta State on February 26, 2026. The operation was based on credible intelligence and was led by Lt.

Col. Olabisi Ayeni, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army.

Among those arrested was a notorious kingpin associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), known as Calam. The suspects were allegedly involved in an attack on a police station in Okuku Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area, where two AK-47 rifles were stolen.

The military stated that the group had relocated to Ebonyi State to establish a new criminal camp following intensified security operations in Delta State. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
