6 Brigade Ensures Security for WAEC and INEC in Taraba

On Friday, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commanding the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, assured a delegation from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of adequate security support for their activities in Taraba State. During a visit to the brigade headquarters in Jalingo, Mr.

Agunbiad Oladel, representing WAEC, emphasized the importance of increased security presence at examination centers to protect students and examination officials from potential threats, especially in vulnerable areas. Brigadier General Akaliro confirmed that troops would be deployed to identified examination centers and urged WAEC officials and the public to cooperate with security personnel.

Additionally, Dr. Sa'ad Umar Idri, leading the INEC delegation, sought military support to enhance inter-agency collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections, highlighting the critical role of military assistance in ensuring peaceful and credible elections.

Akaliro reiterated the army's readiness to provide necessary security arrangements as required.
