Six Dead, Nine Injured in Kogi State Auto Crash

On Thursday night, a tragic auto crash in Kogi State resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to nine others. The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number XW 142 ENU, which collided head-on with a trailer bearing registration number KAB 575 XA.

The incident occurred at Apata Settlement along the Lokoja-Obajana road. Tenimu Yusuf Etuku, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed that the crash was attributed to excessive speed.

A total of seventeen individuals were involved in the accident, comprising fourteen males and three females. Among the injured, eight were male and one female, while six individuals, five males and one female, lost their lives.

Two people were rescued without injuries. The injured victims were transported to Fisayo Hospital in Obajana for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at Ankuri Mortuary in Lokoja.

Items recovered from the accident scene included N20,800, two bags, two Airtel phones, and three additional bags. The police advised motorists to avoid excessive speed to reduce road crashes and prevent loss of lives and property.
