ADC Critiques Tinubu's Policies Amid 63% Poverty Rate

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that the current poverty rate in Nigeria has risen to 63%. In a statement issued by the party's national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Saturday, they argued that the administration's policies have failed to improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens.

The ADC linked the sharp increase in poverty to the removal of fuel subsidies, which they claim has exacerbated the cost of living and diminished purchasing power. They noted that the removal of subsidies has led to higher fuel and transport costs, driving up prices for food and basic necessities.

The ADC criticized the government's justification for subsidy removal, stating that it has not resulted in improvements in critical sectors like health and education. Furthermore, they cited an independent survey indicating widespread dissatisfaction among Nigerians, with 93% believing the country is headed in the wrong direction under Tinubu's leadership.
