NCC Compensates 75 Million Subscribers for Service Failures
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) reported that approximately 75 million telecom subscribers received airtime or data compensation for inadequate network services between November 2025 and September 2026. This announcement was made during the 95th edition of the Telecom Consumers Parliament in Lagos.
Dr Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, emphasized the Commission's commitment to consumer protection by enforcing service standards and holding telecom operators accountable. He acknowledged the real-life consequences of network failures, such as financial losses for traders and missed deadlines for students.
The NCC has mandated operators to compensate affected customers under its Consumer Compensation Framework. In 2026, the NCC recorded over 6,500 network interventions to enhance service quality.
The Commission also urged consumers to utilize public coverage maps to assess network quality before selecting a provider. Additionally, the NCC is collaborating with security agencies to protect telecom infrastructure from vandalism and accidental damage.
