Federal Government Allocates N38.93bn for Tertiary Education

The Federal Government has disbursed N38.93 billion to 166 public tertiary institutions across Nigeria under the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund. This intervention fund is designed to address infrastructure gaps and enhance teaching and learning facilities.
The allocation includes N28.5 billion for 79 universities, N5.8 billion for 46 polytechnics, and N4.7 billion for 41 colleges of education. Efe Ovuakporie, Head of Media at the Federal Ministry of Finance, announced that the funding aims to support the implementation of measures agreed upon in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The government emphasized that the funds should be directed towards approved projects to improve educational infrastructure and institutional capacity. This initiative follows concerns regarding the poor state of public universities and the necessity for targeted investments to enhance their academic environments.
