Kano State to Vaccinate 7 Million Children Against Measles and Rubella

In Kano State, Nigeria, over seven million children are set to receive measles and rubella vaccines as part of the state government's efforts to eliminate these diseases by 2030. The Commissioner of Health, Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, announced the commencement of a routine immunization campaign in Tofa local government area, aiming to vaccinate children aged one year and above.

Labaran emphasized the contagious and dangerous nature of measles and rubella, urging parents and guardians to support the initiative for a healthier future. The government plans to enforce legal provisions against parents who refuse vaccination, highlighting the importance of sustained immunization campaigns in protecting public health and eradicating preventable diseases.
