Eight Die in Helicopter Crash in West Kalimantan, Indonesia

On Thursday morning, an Airbus H130 helicopter operated by Matthew Air Nusantara crashed in a remote forest area of West Kalimantan, Indonesia, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals on board, including six passengers and two crew members. The helicopter lost contact shortly after taking off from a plantation site owned by Citra Mahkota, disappearing five minutes into its flight.

The crash occurred in a densely forested area characterized by steep hills, complicating rescue operations. Mohammad Syafii, head of the Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency, reported that debris believed to be part of the helicopter's tail was discovered three kilometers from where contact was lost.

Rescue teams, including military personnel and police, faced significant challenges accessing the crash site via land routes, which delayed recovery efforts. The cause of the crash remains unknown, and authorities have stated that a full investigation will commence once the wreckage is fully accessible.
