Nine Burnt to Death in Bauchi Auto Crash
On Monday night at approximately 11:20 PM, a fatal auto crash occurred in Bauchi, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals who were burnt beyond recognition. The incident involved a commercial Toyota bus with registration number DRZ 133 LG and a MAN Diesel tipper used for sand transportation.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), represented by Senior Road Marshal Assistant Suleiman Adamu Toro, confirmed the crash in a First Information Report (FIR) issued on Tuesday. The FRSC was alerted five minutes after the crash and arrived at the scene within 15 minutes.
A total of 17 male adults were involved, with nine confirmed dead and eight others injured. The probable cause of the crash was identified as a tyre burst while the vehicle was in motion.
The vehicles and other property recovered from the scene were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the State Police Command for further investigation. The injured were taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for medical attention, while the deceased were deposited at the morgue.
