96-Year-Old Woman Dies After Alleged Attack by Granddaughter

Hajiya Umma, a 96-year-old woman, was reportedly attacked by her granddaughter, Aisha Muktar, using a mortar in Daura, Katsina. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, leading to Hajiya Umma being found unconscious and bleeding profusely.

Despite immediate medical attention at the Daura Federal Medical Centre, she succumbed to her injuries a few hours later. Muktar Husaini, Hajiya Umma's eldest son, confirmed the incident, expressing devastation and shock, stating that his mother had no history of conflict with anyone.

Hajiya Umma was described as a peaceful and humble woman who had battled diabetes for years, leading to the amputation of her leg. The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that Aisha Muktar has been taken into custody as investigations continue to determine the circumstances and motives behind the attack.

Community leaders have condemned the killing and called for justice, highlighting concerns regarding domestic violence and the safety of elderly individuals.
