Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing Grandmother in Katsina

On June 12, 2026, at approximately 7:00 PM, Aisha Muktar Hassan, a 20-year-old woman, was arrested by the Katsina State Police Command in connection with the death of her 97-year-old paternal grandmother, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan. The incident occurred in the Daura Local Government Area following a domestic dispute.

According to a statement released by the police's public relations officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the argument escalated, leading Aisha to strike her grandmother on the head with a wooden chair. Upon police arrival, the victim was found unconscious in a pool of blood and was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where she was later confirmed dead by the attending physician.
