Rainstorm in Bauchi Claims Lives of Woman and Granddaughter

On June 10, 2026, a heavy rainstorm accompanied by strong winds struck Bauchi, leading to tragic consequences. The storm resulted in the deaths of Aisha Sagir, a 50-year-old housewife, and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, in Unguwar Katsinawa, Kirfi Local Government Area (LGA).

The floodwaters surged unexpectedly, destroying several houses and livestock, with damages estimated in millions of naira. Bara Muhammad Nasiru reported that the floodwaters struck at high speed, causing significant destruction and rendering families homeless.

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement signed by Public Relations Officer Nafiu Habib, who noted that the Kirfi LGA experienced heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions that led to this tragic loss. Police operatives from the Kirfi division visited the scene to assess the damage and maintain order in the affected community.
